About this line reverser
Reversing the lines of a text turns it upside down: the last line becomes the first, the second to last becomes the second, and so on. It is a quick way to show the newest log entries first, flip a list that was written oldest to newest, undo an accidental sort, or reorder steps. Only the order of lines changes. Words and characters inside each line stay exactly as typed, and blank lines move along with the others. If you want to flip the letters inside the text instead, use a text reverser.
How to reverse the order of lines
- Paste your text. Put each item on its own line, or press an example. Press Clear to empty the box.
- Press Reverse lines. The reversed text appears below with the line, character, and word counts.
- Copy or reuse it. Press Copy result, or Use result as input to move the reversed text back into the box and continue editing.
Frequently asked questions
Does this reverse the letters in each line?
No. Only the order of the lines changes, and every line stays readable. To mirror the characters themselves, use the Reverse Text tool instead.
What happens to blank lines?
They are treated like any other line and move to their mirrored position. A blank line between two paragraphs stays between them, with the paragraphs in swapped order.
What happens if my text ends with a line break?
A single final line break is not counted as an extra empty line, so the first line of the result is not blank. Blank lines in the middle or at the start of the text are kept.
How do I get back to the original order?
Press Use result as input and then Reverse lines again. Reversing twice always returns the original line order.
What do the statistics count?
Lines are the lines in your text, characters are all visible characters on those lines without the line breaks, and the average is characters divided by lines.
