About this coin flipper
Flipping a coin is the simplest fair way to settle a choice: who goes first, which film to watch, or which side kicks off. This online coin flipper does it without a real coin, using your browser’s cryptographic random number generator so heads and tails are always exactly fifty-fifty. Flip one coin for a decision, or up to 100 at once to see probability in action. With many coins the result shows how close the split comes to half and half, and the longest streak shows how often runs of the same side appear by pure chance.
How to flip a coin online
- Choose the number of coins. Type a number from 1 to 100, or press a quick flip such as 10 coins.
- Press Flip coins. The coins spin and land. H means heads and T means tails.
- Read the totals. Check the count and percentage of heads and tails and the longest streak. Press the button again for a new flip.
Frequently asked questions
Is the coin flip fair?
Yes. Each coin uses a separate random bit from the Web Crypto generator, so heads and tails each have exactly a 50% chance, and earlier flips never affect later ones.
Why did I get several heads in a row?
Streaks are normal in random sequences. In 100 flips, a run of six or seven of the same side is common. The coin has no memory, so tails is not due after a run of heads.
Why is the split not exactly 50/50?
Chance makes small groups uneven. With 10 coins, 6 and 4 is very ordinary; with 100 coins the split usually lands between about 40 and 60 heads.
Can I turn off the sound?
Yes. Untick Sound before you flip. The sound is made by your browser and nothing is downloaded.
