About this line break tool
Wrap text so every line fits the character width you choose. Breaks fall on spaces, words stay whole, and existing line breaks are kept.
How to use this tool
- Add your text. Type, paste, or press an example. An example fills the box and does not wrap yet.
- Set the width. Characters per line is the maximum length of a wrapped line. The default is 80.
- Press Add line breaks. The wrapped text appears under the button.
- Copy or edit. Copy the result, or change the text or the width and press the button again.
Frequently asked questions
Where does a line break go?
Breaks are inserted at spaces so a line stays within the width. A word is not split, and line breaks already in the text stay.
What if one word is longer than the width?
That word stays on one line. The width limits lines that contain spaces, and it does not cut inside a word.
Does changing the width update the result?
Not by itself. Change the number or the text, then press Add line breaks again.
